MEDU is a democratic, non-profit organization independent of political, trade union, religious, and ethnic affiliations. Founded in Rome in 2004, MEDU aims to provide healthcare to vulnerable populations in Italy and abroad, while also denouncing human rights violations, particularly those related to exclusion from the right to health. MEDU operates in Rome and Florence through its Mobile Clinics, offering primary healthcare and providing information on the right to health and access to care.
Mobile clinic in Florence
MEDU’s mobile unit in Florence – a camper equipped as a clinic – reaches informal settlements, and railway stations in the city of Florence and other neighboring municipalities. The objective is to provide:
